Following requests from the public for more information about two of our Chimps, I’ve been talking to our keepers and discovered more about Louis and Tojo.

Louis is a 34yrs old male, born 13th Feb 1976 at Twycross Zoo. His parents were Oscar & Susu (both deceased). He is housed with Choppers (female) and his keepers describe him as having a strong character.  He enjoys nothing more than to display at the adjacent male, Jambo to provoke a reaction! He also loves interacting with the public. Louis is food orientated and he always gives the keepers a happy reaction when it is feeding time!

Tojo is a 33yeat old female, born September 1977 in the wild. Housed with Jambo (male) she is a very dominant female and loves to carry anything with a reflection in her chimp pocket so she can check out her reflection. Tojo has been known to pull off the wall tiles in her enclosure so she can carry these round with her! She also likes to greet familiar faces by tapping on her chest and pant grunting.
